Le plurilinguisme : valeur et défi

Le multilinguisme représente une valeur mais aussi un défi, et ce tant pour l’individu que pour les institutions éducatives et la politique relative à la langue. Mon allocution porte tout d’abord sur la construction identitaire et le repère culturel d’individus plurilingues dans leurs environnements socio-culturels et politico-historiques. La deuxième partie traite des aspects relatifs aux politiques linguistiques institutionnelles. Elle s’interroge principalement sur la manière dont les écoles et les universités réagissent face à la migration et à l’internationalisation et propose une réflexion sur les conditions favorables à une exploitation à bon escient du plurilinguisme et de la pluralité culturelle.

La présentation sera multilingue.

Sowohl für das Individuum wie auch für Bildungsinstitutionen und Sprachpolitik stellt Mehrsprachigkeit einen Wert wie auch eine Herausforderung dar. Im Vortrag geht es zunächst um die Identitätskonstruktion und kulturelle Verortung von mehrsprachigen Menschen in ihren spezifischen sozio-kulturellen und politisch-historischen Kontexten. Im zweiten Teil werden sprachpolitischinstitutionelle Aspekte in den Blick genommen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie Schulen und Universitäten auf Migration und Internationalisierung reagieren, und unter welchen Bedingungen Mehrsprachigkeit und kulturelle Pluralität als positive Ressourcen genutzt werden können.

• Biographie :

Adelheid Hu has been professor of Multilingualism and Multilingual Education at the UL since October 2011. Her work comprises the topics of language learning and teaching in multicultural societies, language and identity, language policy and intercultural studies. She graduated in German, French, Chinese and Applied Linguistics at the university of Bochum and began her career as a teacher in a senior high school in Germany and then as lecturer at Tunghai University in Taiwan (1984-89). She returned to Germany for a PhD (1996) and a post-doc (1996-2001). In 2001 she was appointed Associate Professor and in 2008 Full Professor of Foreign Language Pedagogy at the University of Hamburg. She has been head of the German Association for Foreign Language Research (DGFF) and has (co)-directed different research projects in the field of multilingualism and intercultural studies. At the UL, she is director of the Master in Learning and Communication in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts (with I. de Saint-Georges) and coordinator of the Research Field Multilingualism in Education and Society.
